I’ve been writing my entire life, trading short story blue ribbons from childhood for editor roles at college newspapers. While a student, I created a fashion and lifestyle blog (OhJuliaAnn.com) which has since been named St. Louis’ Best Written blog on three separate occasions. After graduating magna cum laude from Saint Louis University, I took my journalism degree and began working as a full-time staff reporter for a weekly magazine. A few years in marketing for an education technology company rounded out my media skills, adding abilities like graphic design and email creation. Now I am a full-time freelancer seeking new projects in the communication field, ranging from feature reporting to content marketing to social media. Scroll down to see some of my latest bylines and previous projects.
Around the Web
Journalism is my bread and butter, and I am thrilled to continue sharing the stories of interesting people and unique companies through reporting. My byline can be spotted across a plethora of print and digital news outlets. Here are a few of my favorites.
Oh, Julia Ann
Founded in 2012, Oh, Julia Ann is a fashion, lifestyle, and DIY blog with a heavy dose of humor. The site and corresponding social media accounts have been spotted in major news outlets like Buzzfeed, The Huffington Post, and InStyle. Additionally, top brands such as AT&T, Intel, vitaminwater, and Free People have collaborated on blog posts.
I am the founder and creator of Oh, Julia Ann, an award-winning fashion, lifestyle, and DIY blog. I share new posts daily ranging from outfit ideas to entertaining tips to easy DIYs – all of which feature the signature Oh, Julia Ann humor. Warning: Corny jokes ahead.
Reporter & Copywriter
I have years of professional writing experience in the fields of reporting, corporate writing, web writing, and tutorial creation. I’m addicted to my AP Stylebook (for the outlets that call for it, at least) and am ready to tell any story in a thoughtful and thorough manner.
What good is all that work if it isn’t pretty? I’m trained in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator so the images and design of any project match the craftsmanship of the copy. Additionally, I can create design-specific projects such as social media graphics and display advertisements.
Social Media & Marketing Coordinator
At the end of the day, your project can only succeed if the right audience sees it. I am an experienced marketer with previous focuses on content marketing, direct mail/postcard creation, display advertising, influencer marketing, and social media coordination.
Julia Cain is a self-motivated, hardworking reporter whose versatile writing style enables her to cover a wide range of news and lifestyle topics. She is equally capable of coordinating a multi-page fashion spread, crafting a well-rounded feature story or promoting a brand through social media. With her professional interview demeanor, Julia will make a good impression for any organization she represents.Lisa Watson
Julia gets things done, and she does them well…She was remarkably efficient, self-driven, and hardworking, she solved problems before they happened…I don’t think that I can do Julia’s drive, organization, and work ethic justice in a short letter.Cynthia Graville
Julia is a dexterous marketing professional…[who can take] on a project with little guidance, develop an execution strategy, and see it through to completion. Examples of this are helping to launch our direct mail and postcard strategy, building infographics and relevant blog posts, and developing an academic marketing calendar tied to school districts across the United States. I would highly recommend Julia as an asset to any forward-thinking organization looking to boost their marketing efforts.Greg Stahl
